November 24th, 1998 | 45 mintues in total! (animated portion around 27 minutes) | you can watch all of it online on youtube and also the VHS isnt too rare itself! |
tamagotchi video adventures!!!!! an incredibly interesting piece of tamagotchi history... tamagotchi video adventures is essentially a one episode pilot for a never fully produced american tamagotchi tv show! its also pretty long compared to the other tamagotchi animated things of the time, the vhs having a total running time of 45 minutes like said in the table! i belevie it began production in 1997 and maybe completed but! it got delayed until 1998. its more based on the american tamagotchi story at the time and the characters are different from what you think they would be like but its good i think!!
the tape does have a story through out its run time, its simple and fun! the story follows the 14 American P1 and P2 cast and the tamagotchi museum curator cosmotchi (exclusive to this tape and one of my favorites!) as the 14 tamagotchis need to travel to the earth and find an object that represents earth and can go in the museum! the tamagotchis group into pairs and the tape shows cosmotchi, still on tamagotchi planet, watching the tamagotchis as each pair gets and item to bring back! maskutchi is left without a partner though as hashizoutchi as soon as he left the ship went! right back in and was asleep for the rest of that part! i dont feel like entirely summarizing the whole tape but its a fun story!
after the main animated part of the tape is over theres a song! "whats a tamagotchi?" is an original song for the tamagotchi video adventures vhs tape and its fun! after the song ends theres a live action section with the director of the tape Dan Kuenster showing the viewer how to draw four tamagotchis! once that part is over it goes to the credits and the tape is over... tamagotchi video adventures in a way is a kind of product of its time being a! toy cartoon from the 90s but it has a really special place in my heart!! its just kinda fun seeing all of the tamagotchis get into cartoon antics its good! the style of the tape is super interesting too as it emulates the american art style at the time which has a kind of crayon coloring style!
finding information about parts of TVA or any old tamagotchi animated things is hard sometimes since a lot of the history of that has been! kind of of shrowded by newer tamagotchi animated adaptations but! luckily TVA is fully archived and is available on youtube and has been for a couple of years! its a good watch i think if you enjoy tamagotchis and just a fun simple storyline!
(also tiny fun fact! the tape of video adventures came out a day after tamagotchi's second anniversary!)
