zuccitchi first debuted in early 1997 with the release of the P2 tamagotchi and became a fairly mainstay character of that era of tamagotchi. i first discovered zuccitchi around when i was first looking into tamagotchi and he very very quickly became of my favorite tamagotchis, if not characters ever! this is just a personal page to gush about him and collect all sorts of fun zuccitchi images and the like :]
the release of the P2 tamagotchi came some time in early 1997 and is mainly a revision of the previous P1 with a new cast of characters and a new game. zuccitchi took the spot maskutchi had on the previous device as an average care character, and also evolving into the secret character! id describe his sprites on the toy as being kind of bug like? his ears are closer together and resemble antennas more than the rabbit ears seen in the artwork. there isn't a ton of character details to infer from the sprites alone, but he does sleep with his eyes open which is preserved in most every depiction of him sleeping after.
zuccitchi is often described as having a rude and generally 'bad' personality, being irritable, having an ego and often being a bit mean. despite this, a central trait of zuccitchi is his dreams of becoming a hero. it presents a fun conflict of this over the top funny rude guy you'd expect to be a bad guy also trying to do good! some descriptions even say he acts more like a villain. he does get up to some mischief, but usually zuccitchi is played as another character in the main cast which i like! some descriptions also just describe him as a weird guy which is also true
during most of the vintage era zuccitchi was a pretty consistent character in various media! this is true for most of the P1 and P2 cast but it's still worth noting to me. his characterization is fairly consistent, main outlier being Manga de Hakken, portraying him with a much more sly expression and personality. my personal favorite apperances for him are in Anime TV De Hakken and Minna de Tamagotchi (manga)! i just think he looks really really cute in the anime and also i love his voice in it.. in the found episodes he mainly appears in episode 6 and 7, though episode 18 also focused on him. Minna de Tamagotchi has a story where he tries to sabotage a movie in production because he wasn't cast as a hero but it backfires on him and i just think is a really great encapsulation of his character!
like most of the vintage cast, zuccitchi hasn't appeared much past the reboot. he was raisable on the connection V2 and also on the pacman nano? he's also had merchandise recently, but mostly in the form of older art reuse. HOWEVER!! he did have a sudden apperance in tamagotchi adventure kingdom!! he doesn't play a big role at all in the game, but he is there in all his glory... i was so so happy when i found out about this, even if i dont have a way to play the game! ginjirotchi and maskutchi are there too even! though, his dialogue is written a bit strangely? he just talks about things sort of dryly and also kind of just reciting facts about himself. but i will take what i can...
